Daytona came back to us due to no fault of her own. Her owner felt she was "too small" to compete in Texas. So, she came back to us and was placed in a companion home. I believe everything happens for a reason. Daytona was the world to George. They hiked, traveled, lounged... they did everything together. She even went to work with George.
Unfortunately April 2, 2016 she became very ill. She was diagnosed at an ER hospital with CHF and after ECG/echo work up with a cardiologist was diagnosed with DCM. Despite medications she was continuing to decline. George knew her quality of life was not there and decided it was time to let her go. I am so grateful Daytona got to spend the majority of her life happy and so well loved. I am sorry for George's heartbreak. Its never easy to let go.
I hope some day we have a genetic marker for DCM
Rest in Peace Daytona.....
